Dear Seniors, Can a firm provide a private insurance cover (i.e bajaj allianze) instead of ESIC, for its employees?

Dear Raj No ESI is a mandatory one..you can not avoid this.Though ESI not used properly by the employees but its features are superior than other medical insurance. Regards Madhan

pl. check your area. if your area are covered under the act then you must enrolled under the act and if you don’t then no need for ESIC. you can cover by WC policy.

In my view, there is no substitute for ESI being a Central Act unless an exemption is granted by the Competent Authority. However, a private insurance scheme can be taken in lieu of the EDLI scheme under the EPF & MP Act 1952, with the permission of the RPFC concerned.
