I am Panki Sharma, an MBA in HR. I have just landed a job in a construction company as an HR Manager. However, I do not have any prior experience in HR. The challenging part is that there is no senior HR personnel to guide me on handling HR tasks such as P.F., managing payrolls, etc. My experience is limited to six months of recruitment, and that too in a consultancy setting. I am passionate about working in HR, but I require guidance or study materials to learn these essential aspects. Could you kindly advise me on what steps to take?

Regards,
Panki Sharma

Don't be confused. First, prepare the employee database, collect documents, and photos. Then, prepare the wage register. If you don't, it can be done by a consultant. Work as a payroll coordinator and provide a salary breakup if needed for CTC.

Welcome to the knowledge-sharing Forum, Cite HR. Please go through the <link no longer exists - removed> thread and the https://www.citehr.com/118961-welcom...ers-group.html thread. Here, you can learn more and share whatever you know.

You mentioned that you are in the construction industry.

Employee Strength and Company Age

What is your employee strength? How many years old is the company?

Payment Procedures and Employee Database

What is the procedure for making payments to the employees? Do you have a complete database of the employees and workers in your organization? If not, start collecting and preparing the same database along with photos. Then, start recording their attendance regularly. For recording attendance, you can use a biometric attendance system, which is readily available in the market. If you approach a service provider, they can supply you with a tailor-made attendance system that will match your requirements.

With that attendance, you can calculate the wages/salary of your workers/employees, and from the wages, you can calculate the PF and ESI.

Registration with PF and ESI Departments

Before that, you must get registered with the PF and ESI Department and get your company's code numbers. For registration, you can directly approach the RPFO Office and ESIC Office, or you can engage some agencies that can help you in registering your establishment under PF & ESI and get the code. Further, you can approach the concerned enforcement authorities who can also help you in this regard.

You can download the ESI Act and PF Act from Cite HR itself, which is already uploaded by many of our members. The only thing you need to do is type the keywords in the "WHAT DO YOU NEED" box and click the "Research" button available at the top of this page.

Dear Panki Sharma, as mentioned in the PM, I have checked the PF Code of your company located in Ludhiana, Punjab. On October 13, you made payments for 91 persons on November 19, 2013. You can review the details in the [Payment History](http://epfoservices.in) link (link updated to the site home) ([Search On Cite](https://www.citehr.com//results.php?q=Payment History) | [Search On Google](https://www.google.com/search?q=Payment History)). By clicking on the number of employees, you can access the names of the employees covered during the month. Your name is not listed in the details, indicating that your PF for October has not been remitted. Additionally, it appears that you are not paying for workers who are directly employed or engaged through contractors. Please initiate remittance for them.

Numerous paysheet formats have already been uploaded on this site, which you can utilize for your workers based on the Biometric Attendance.

Thank you.
