I was just wondering if companies have any policy for employees who join and then leave the firm after just a few days or a week of joining and then demand salary for the days they stayed in the company.
With the increasing dropouts in new hires immediately after joining, I feel this might be a concern for every employer where mass hiring happens at the entry level of positions.
Even if you go through the appointment terms and conditions, at times it becomes difficult to recover the money from the candidate. Consequently, companies end up leaving that amount and closing such cases.
I would like to hear from all of you if any company has a policy where new hires are required to spend a minimum time frame to receive their first and last dues.
Please provide your inputs. It would be a learning experience and enhance knowledge if we have any other way to deal with such cases besides appointment terms and conditions.

Dear Saunee ji,
Even if a person works for just one day, they are eligible for salary for that day. You cannot deny them this, however, you can recover the amount for any short notice as per the terms of their appointment. Statutory deductions should also be made from the salary, even for just one day.
