Navigating Resignation, Legal Implications, and Career Decisions - CiteHR

I resigned a couple of months back without a job offer, and the day before my last working day, I rescinded my resignation, stating that I'm willing to continue in the company in the same position. Now, one month after reverting my resignation, I received a good job offer. When I spoke to my manager about it, he said that the management might create a negative remark about me or take actions to harm my career if I submit my resignation. I informed him that I did not sign any contract and that no one communicated to me that I should not leave. I also asked him how long I should stay. He replied that he couldn't provide guidance and suggested that if I want to leave, I should take the risk with my resignation. I am unsure of how to proceed. Is it possible to take legal action if they refuse to accept my resignation or if they include negative remarks in my relieving letter?

No one can take any legal action against you. You are within your rights to decide for whom you will work. Just submit your resignation, serve the notice period, and leave.

In such situations, as employees, we cannot please everyone. I guess your manager is just trying to "play with your intuition of fear" to hold you back.
