Hi,
I got a job offer from a construction company.
pls. let me know, is it good to work in HR in a construction company.
If I work with it for a certain period of time, is my career secure enough to grow with it.

Hi,
There is no harm in working with a construction company provided the systems are in place. Or else you can always put the systems in place or streamline the Policies. Construction is seems to be an un organised sector so the job profile also will be unorganized But today this sector is growing like anything
No problem

Contruction company HR is a very good career option. This industry has really good companies and is a growing sector.
Here you may have to deal with contract labourer or site employees. You cannot expect to sit relaxing in an AC office. As HR you will be visiting the sites for see how the things are going on there., whether mandatory labour records are maintained, whether contract labourers and other staffs are adhering to the safety standards prescribed.
You will be running to the labour offices to get the labour licenses before employing contract labour at the site.
Many legal framework to be taken care, like Minimum Wages Act which prescribes minimum rates of wages for different types of construction labourers.
Mostly you will be doing negotiations with labour, outsiders, government agencies.
thanks

Hi,
I think a career in any sector is not bad at all,It actually depends on your interest on that particular sector you like to work. HR is not limited to IT, ITEs, banking or any particular sector. If you are really interested to work with a construction firm the go ahead, Somany big palyers are there in the construction sector and they are paying nice.
If you are new to the industry,I mean a fresher its better to start with anything in hand. Because remember that "There is no substitutaion of experience when any of the corporate job is concerned"
Thanks

Hi !
I am working in Construction Industry and there is a dearth of good HR Professionals since this was largely an un organised sector and with input of FDI and Private Equity Participation things are looking up. Good time to join this industry since learning would be great. Go ahead.
Thanks

Hi,
The construction industry is at a nascent stage right now and is trying to professioanlise quickly, specially as they work on more regional/global projects. Hence the HR function can add a lot of value as the industry is highly manpower intense.
While the appreciation for HR role needs to be created by the professionals in the industry now, you would be a part of professionals laying the base. L&T is one of the highly respectec companies in terms of HR practices and programs and a part of their business is in construction.
This is an opporutnity to create....be a part of high growth.
Best wishes
