A decision to increase the ceiling from Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 25,000 is taken at the ESI Corporation Director Board Meeting in the presence of Labour Minister Sriram Ohla and Kodikunnil Suresh (Minister of State) yesterday. This will come into force one month after notification by the labour department.

Why was the message of dixonjose02, as stated above, deleted? And by whom? The decision to increase the ceiling from Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000 is correct. The date of implementation may be mentioned in the Gazette notification.

It is really not fair. Earlier, the salary cap for ESI has been revised in a reasonable time and at a reasonable rate. But now, just to attract people, the government has increased the limit. Within a period of three years from the last revision, they are increasing the cap by Rs. 10,000.

The government has decided to increase the salary limit for coverage of ESI from Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 25,000. The date of effect is not known.

If this decision is final, then many employees will never be able to come out of the ESIC Scheme. While the scheme is good, the usage is minimal. Most employees prefer to visit private hospitals and clinics instead. Hoping that the services and mindset of people managing the show change.
