Hi senior sirs,

Recently, I completed my MBA in HR. Currently, I am searching for a job, but I am unsure about the application process and the steps typically followed in the hiring process. I would greatly appreciate your guidance on how to secure a job and what preparations I need to make. Thank you for your assistance.

Dear Venkat,

When searching for a job, you need to be prepared with what you have studied as a fresher. You should also have a sound knowledge of theoretical aspects. Dear, as a fresher, you are expected to respond as a fresher, discussing what you have studied during your academic years. Ensure that your CV reflects this.

Thank you.

Hello Venkat,

Few suggestions for your guidance:

1) Prepare a CV that can make an employer pause for a while to look at it from a pile. You must have no doubt made one, but look at it again.

2) Tap into known sources like your seniors who are currently holding HR posts or your visiting faculty, who are normally from the industry, to scout for opportunities.

3) Search the internet for job sites.

4) Attend job fairs.

5) Join any HR professional club in your area that is open to freshers as well.

6) If you are interested in the public sector, look for advertisements of vacancies for HR trainees in banks, insurance companies, oil companies, which are regularly published in newspapers or Employment News.

7) In the meantime, prepare well on HR concepts and issues like industrial disputes, bonuses, welfare provisions of the Factories Act, P.F, ESI, and Gratuity Act provisions regarding key issues like their applicability, computation, and coverage of employees, etc.

Hope this helps.

While there are good pieces of advice here, I am curious to know from Venkat what kind of guidance or assistance he has received from his college or institute regarding job search. Is it the same as what is now being offered here, or was there something extra that he can share?

Thanks!
