Hi All,
I am Ali from Pakistan, I am really disturbed now a days. I had left my previous job four months ago as I was joining one of my family\'s new business as a Manager but unfortunately it didn\'t worked as business progress is very slow and personally I am not satisfied with the work I am doing here and all the colors of my life has gone after leaving my previous job. But that\'s not enough there is another twist, my previous company already rehired me when I left that job earlier. So in short this is the second time I want to rejoin that company and personally I am feeling ashamed of my self that how should I approached them once again. But I want to join them back if they rehire me as I feel much comfortable in my previous job regardless of hectic job. Please help my out in this situation as I am in deep depression and have no idea what to do. :(
Thanks...

Hello Alisaif,
It's quite appreciable & admirable that you have the guts to face life--BOTH it's triumphs & tribulations--square in the face. Not many have that trait & quality that's very necessary for anyone to move on, regardless of anything.
Some additional details may help the members to give more focused suggestions: Since you already rejoined once, how was your parting the last time it happened.....rough or smooth?
Coming to your situation, suggest give the following options a thought--you would be the BEST judge to decide which one has better chance to work-out.
1] IF you have any friends still in that company, why not 'sound' them out & see what comes-out? That could give you some inputs for you decide your next step.
2] How was your relationship with your erstwhile boss? If it was good, you can also call him up & ask for time to discuss this F2F--wouldn't advise discussing this on phone.
Reg your 'feeling ashamed', I guess that only indicates your sincerity & genuine willingness to make amends.
All the Best.

Dear Ali,
Going back can be a good resort at this stage if you really value what you get there don't be ignorant of the fact that you are not getting good offers anywhere at thispoint of time.
Generally do not get everything 100% everywhere, so it is upto you to decide the priorities in life in terms of if you can make some adjustments here and there.
As you are in good relation with your last employer, talk to them and see if there is any suitable position and then go ahead..just make sure you don't repeat the same mistake again.

Dear Friend,
There is nothing serious in your case. You left to join family business, It didn't worked well, so there is nothing big in going back. The important point is if the Employer is taking you back and if yes means he was and is satisfied and sure of your performance. Going back is not important and never hurt any one's self respect. A performer is only rehired and taken back and till you are performing well you are an asset to any company. So without any second thought you can go back but must justify them by performing well and even working better then your previous stint.
Wish you all the best.

Dear Ali,
Our friends have given very good suggestions regarding decision to rejoin the previous employer. Don't repent...........and don't be disturbed. Your previous employer has taken the decision to rehire you because you have given performance and shown good behaviour in your tenure.
This is called smooth parting.
"We have observed so many cases when employees don't bother about the existing employer at the time of exit. They even don't bother to serve the notice period and about the relieving letters. After that they face many difficulties. This type of behaviour gives bad expression about such employees not only in the existing company but in the new company also."
So Ali you don't be disturbed and don't repent on your decision of rejoining.
With Best Wishes

Thanks a lot all of you for your kind suggestions, yesterday I met my Department\'s director but from his attitude and conversation I feel that he don\'t want me to rejoin, as his main focus was that we can\'t trust you this time and you can go for another job and was wishing me best of luck. Anyways I am disappointed from the feedback he has given but he asks me to recontact him after two weeks as he was saying he has to confirm the rehiring policy from the HR and other stakeholders. Let\'s see what happens but at-least now I don\'t have regret that I didn\'t try from my side. I will surely update what I get after two weeks. :)
Thanks,
Ali

ALL THE BEST Ali.
Also, suggest keep looking for other openings--so that you don't get stuck in the Worst-case-Scenario [the Director saying NO finally].
Like the Saying goes: 'Don't put all your eggs in a single basket'.

We are glad that you tried. Here's what I suggest, try and recollect the tasks you delivered and chalk out a plan on how can you deliver them better. Try some research to identify if the workflows have changed and custom your plan according to that.
Email the document to the director and do take his feedback. This would show your eagerness to deliver better this time and might get you the role.
We pray for your success. Please keep us posted .
