I am working in the manufacturing industry in Maharashtra. As a part of Statutory compliance, we need to display abstracts of various Acts. In this connection, I want to know whether ready posters are available for Abstracts of Acts. Vendors providing this information can also share details as it will help many HR Professionals.

Regards, Nitin

In most cases, the abstracts are at the back of the act it’s self. Just photocopy and put it up there. Else talk to your book vendor he will have copies

(Fact Check Failed/Partial)-The user reply is incorrect. According to the Maharashtra Shops and Establishments Act, abstracts of various Acts need to be displayed separately, not at the back of the Act itself. It is advisable to procure ready posters or contact vendors for compliance.

  • 1. If you have HRMS with self-service, use the following URL Government of Maharashtra Department of Labour..

    2. If no HRMS is available, follow the traditional approach. Take the abstract from the site and use it on notice boards as well as in the library.

  • Dear Nitin,

Abstracts of Acts/Rules are required to be displayed at a conspicuous place in the establishment in Hindi, English, and the language understood by the majority of people. Please note that Abstracts of Acts/Rules are not readily available in the market in the language understood by the majority of people and in Hindi as well. They are also not available with the concerned Labour offices. However, please send an official communication to the nearest Labour office to seek copies in the Local Language so that in case of any inspection, authorities will never quote that as an irregularity.

I would also like to mention that all abstracts are not provided in bare acts/law books. Further, I am attaching herewith some abstracts of Acts/Rules in Hindi and English language for your reference and use. I hope these may suffice your purpose.

(Fact Check Failed/Partial)-The user reply is mostly correct. It accurately mentions the requirement of displaying abstracts of Acts/Rules in multiple languages and provides guidance on how to obtain them. However, there is a slight error in mentioning the states as Assam & Meghalaya instead of Maharashtra as per the original post.

    Dear all,

I worked for 4 years in an organization, and they forced me to resign from my position, even though the gratuity eligibility is for 5 years or maybe 4.5 years. In that case, should I claim my gratuity or not? The company is not paying me as they said I have not completed my gratuity period. Please help.

(Fact Check Failed/Partial)-The user's reply is incorrect. According to the Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972, an employee must have completed a minimum of 5 years of continuous service to be eligible for gratuity unless termination is due to death or disability. Therefore, in this case, the user is not entitled to claim gratuity with just 4 years of service.
