Dear Gaurav,

If your company is a private company having its operations only in one state, you will be governed by the minimum wage rates declared by the said state. However, if your company has operations in multiple states, the appropriate government authority shall be the Central Government. The higher of the minimum wage rates set by either the central government or the particular state of establishment for the specific scheduled employment shall be applicable.

Regards.

Dear Gaurav,

Please note that as a contractor, you should always check the following:

1) Who is the appropriate government for your principal employer - the Central government or the State government.
2) If it's the State, then you have to follow State MW; otherwise, it's Central.

Therefore, kindly check whether telecom companies are under the Central or State Government's ambit.
