ESI provisons extended in Tamil Nadu
The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has extended the provisions of ESI scheme to specified establishments employing 10 or more persons against 20 persons earlier.
A notification issued by ESIC said the threshold limit on employment strength for the coverage of the specified establishments stood reduced from 20 to 10 persons, irrespective of whether the wages a month of any person so employed exceeded or was less than the limit of Rs.15,000. The new criteria would facilitate coverage of smaller establishments and employees.
