HI Kamaldeep,
Usually every organization gives 10-13 paid holidays.
Some organizations have a strict holiday calendar i.e. irrespective of holidays clashing on weekly offs, those can't be changed.
However, increasingly things are changing and so is the holiday policy.
So when a holiday falls on weekly offs, it is adjusted by giving some other holiday.
Please note that this is not a comp off. A comp off is usually given, when someone is working on holiday or weekly off and is compensated for it.
Depending on your company policy you should be adjusting the leaves.
This year we have so many holidays that are falling on Sundays and Saturdays (People working in a 5-day-week environment are more concerned) So the organization can accordingly give some other festive holidays.
Our usual practice is to give clubbed holidays during diwali and new year (last week of dec) so that people can plan vacation with their family.
Hope it helped. :)

When a paid holiday happens to be a Sunday, there is no need to give that holdiday (I assume your office / factory is closed on Sunday). There is no need to give an alternate day as holiday.
However, if the manage, emt wishes to give alternate day as a holiday, nothing in the act prevents that

As Ankita said, you can take a call, having regard to your comapny's policy in adjusting holidays on some other days, though it is not compulsory to do so.

If a company has different weekly offs for different department personnels, then we cannot satisfy all the employees it is their hardluck. e.g. in Hotels/restaurants the staff get different weekly offs and if a public holiday happens to be on the weekly off then that cannot be adjusted with other. Hope that this clarifies your need.
