We all know the IT/software industry is moving towards the concept called "CLOUD COMPUTING." Similarly, is there any concept towards which HRM is moving? Where and in what can one see the future trends in HRM, say in about 6 to 7 years.

Any insight is greatly appreciated.

HRM will become a strong strategic partner in the transformation from its company to a sustainable company. As such, the HR manager will have to be a cultural creative (ecology, introducing new patterns, innovation, participation, etc.) in order to transform his or her own HR strategy into a sustainable one. This transformation should not only focus on the results but particularly on HOW (use of ecological methods) the transformation will happen. Hope my "third" eye is right ;-)

Coming back to my question, is there a more specific concept towards which HRM is moving? I do agree that individual contribution plays an important role in the evolution of HR. But on a bigger perspective, what does an organization have to do to actually think about moving forward in the field of HRM...

Companies or businesses certainly need to attain their goals through collective effort. Hence, the objective of HRM should be to synergize human capital where each individual is a team player with respect to his team and also with respect to the network of teams within an organization. He will play multiple roles, update himself from time to time, and initiate change to reinvent constantly. Transparency and coordination are the key lubricants for such a process to happen; an organization can create a strong and agile workforce where each employee is a distinct contributor being empowered with dimensions unique to the organization as he performs. This implies that organizations have to collaborate existing processes, bring about new processes, or change processes from time to time. Cloud Computing is a vital tool for HRM in such a scenario as decision-making is time-bound.

Yes, the new trend that is capturing HR's imagination is "Business-driven HR." Going by the discussions, what I understand is aligning HR to business as a strategic partner in business to enable it to contribute to it and may also involve developing tools to measure such contribution.
