Dear Mr. Raman,
Welcome to this forum.
Implementation of EMS & OHSAS helps everyone in an organisation.
The implementation of these management systems, maximum benefits are to employees.
In Western world even the trade unions make these systems compulsory.
The above is in-general remark.
If you post the type of your industry, Processes, products being manufactured I would then be able to comment in Detail.
Looking forward to hear from you.
Thanks & Regards,
Sudhir

Dear Vishal,
You may first identify scope of certification, then carry out HIRA & Aspect-Impact of all activities, identify applicable legal requirements & other requirements, make OCPs for activities with significant aspect/ risk, identify targets on EMS & OHSAS at org. level & dept. level, identify EMPs, identify KPIs to measure healthiness of management systems, plan internal audit (atleast 2/year) & one by accredition agency for certification/survelliance. Conduct mgmt. review atleast once a year.

Dear Ujjwal,
Thanks for the post.
Dear Mr. Vishal,
Please find attached herewith the road map for EMS and OHSAS.
As you are in solar Power Projects, ISO 14001 would give a positive impact on the business.
This would be a mandetaoy certification if you want to export to few countries.
In case you require any specific help pl let us know.
Thanks & Regards,
Sudhir

Greetings for the day!
Thank you so much Mr. Sudhir and Mr. Chakkaravarthy for your prompt response. Basically I am an MBA (HR) and an ex-serviceman retired from Indian Army, currently working as Manager (Administration) in a medium size software services enterprise in Hyderabad. Presently I am thinking for change and hence looking for better opportunities in IT MNCs and major manufacturing companies in similar role. My question is –1. Are these certifications relevant to a Manager in Administration? 2. Will the certifications like OHSAS and EMS really help me in grabbing good opportunities in IT MNCs and major manufacturing companies in admin and facilities?
with warm regards,
Raman

Dear Raman,
The implementation of EHS and OHSAS would help every individual if you want to make a career in it.
You have to be passionate!!
You will have to read both the standards and find your own ways for implementation of them in the organisation.
You can also audit the systems.
The EMS and OHSAS in India is perceived as future.
Both standrds focus on Legal Compliance which in most of the cases responsibility of HR or Administration.
If you work hard working smart, you will definately suceed.
If you need any help pl let us know.
All the best.

Dear Mr.Raman,
Going from the info furnished by you, I understand that you are basically a HR oriented person. Doing EMS and OSHAs will I believe of more help if a person is basically working as HSE manager, because quiet often there are lot of technical formalities to be complied.
Frankly cannot say how far this will help in your career. However, just for additional qualifications, yes doing this is OK.

Dear Mr. Raman, In my opinion, if you are inclined towards IT MNC companies in EHS field, then you may have an option to be SAP EHS proffessional. Now a days, it is in demand. Regards, Ujjwal
