Dear All,
I will be going on my maternity leave starting next week. I would like to know if my privileged/earned leave (PL) will continue to accumulate during this time. Additionally, if I decide to resign from my position while on maternity leave, can I submit my resignation during this period? Would the notice period still be applicable during my leave?
Thank you.

Dear somdatta,
Regarding Maternity Leave, No need to submit the resignation.
Secondly you are authorized to have maternity leave for 12 weeks with full pay and allowances.
After completion of 12 weeks of your maternity leave you can also avail the leave without pay.
In your case you can avail the PL from next year’s entitlement.

Hi,
The company will pay 12 weeks' salary for your maternity leave. If you feel that you require some more time to recover from health issues, you can combine it. Please do not resign and speak with the HR department.
Thank you.

Dear Manasi,
1. PL Accumulation should be there for the period you are on maternity leave (12 weeks).
2. Do not resign from the services of the company until your maternity leave is over. Why do you want to lose out on the salary which is legally due to you?
3. If you wish to discontinue from the services of the company, discuss with your boss and HR. Inform them of your intentions of not rejoining and see how things work out. However, ensure that your application for maternity leave has been forwarded to HR and approved before you discuss the matter with your seniors/HR. Otherwise, they may ask you to resign before proceeding on maternity leave, and thereby you may lose your maternity benefits.
Hope this helps.

Dear Somdatta PL will be calculated only for the working days, not even holidays(like sunday, or any other holidays.) Vasudha

1. PF will not be calculated for the maternity leave period. The days will be taken into consideration only for eligibility.
2. It is not advisable to resign during this period. You can avail the benefits.
3. If you do not want to continue, join and work for a week, inform about your inability to continue, and resign by giving notice. Generally, people will be sympathetic during this period and may request some leave if you have leave credit. Otherwise, take leave without pay. Serve the notice period; generally, there may not be many issues for handing over as you were already on long leave. It is easier to get relieved immediately thereafter.
