Training Needs Analysis in the Health Care Sector
I am working in the Health Care Sector and now I need to conduct a Training Needs Analysis (TNA) for the entire staff, which consists of approximately 1500 employees. Through the performance appraisal (PA) forms, I have identified certain behavioral aspects that need to be addressed. However, there are several departments that have not mentioned any behavioral aspects for training for their respective employees.
I considered conducting the TNA through observation, but when I approached the mentioned departments, they provided excuses of time constraints and the busy environment in the hospital. The Heads of Departments (H.O.Ds) and Senior Managers also expressed that they do not have enough time to complete the TNA forms.
I kindly request your suggestions on the next appropriate steps to be taken without disrupting the hospital's operations.

The staff has already gone through training on various behavioral aspects, including time management, stress management, communication skills, business etiquette, appearance, and hygiene. We have provided training to each and every staff member of the hospital. Now, I want to be more specific and cater only to those individuals who require training based on their needs.

Scheduling Effective Training Sessions
You need to work out a schedule that would cover all the employees. This is because soft skills and/or behavioral skills cannot be taught in a day. They need to be reinforced from time to time to make an impact. You should plan the batches in a way that you do not disturb any department by taking the majority of its people for a single session.
Once the staff, as well as the HODs, feel the benefits that they derive from training, they would become more willing to attend the same and even resist it, citing it as a waste of time. As an HR team member, you should take your Top Management in confidence. When trainings shall be a mandate given from the Top, HODs would have to help you in the initiative.

Thanks, Avika, for your response. Each month, we cover one behavioral aspect for each staff member. For example, in May, we covered the topic of business etiquette, and in June, it was general appearance and hygiene, and so on. Now, I wanted to cater to selective staff since this is quite time-consuming. Even managers and H.O.Ds don't have enough time to spare for their staff, and not all staff require training for every aspect. Kindly suggest.
