Dear all,
Initially, we used to submit ESIC challan through checks from other banks. However, starting from the 1st of August 2012, ESIC and EPFO have refused to accept checks from other banks.
Now, the issue I am facing is that I wish to pay the ESIC amount online. Please guide me on what to do because during the generation of the challan, it prompts for online payment, and I had canceled that option at that time. How should I proceed with the payment now?
Thank you.

Dear y123-56,
Banks cannot refuse to accept cheques from other banks unless there is a circular or notification to this effect. To the best of my knowledge, no such circular or notification exists. Any changes to the current system cannot be made unilaterally. I recommend that you meet with the Branch Manager of the bank (SBI) to discuss and question why the bank is refusing to accept cheques from other banks. It appears that the bank is trying to increase its customer base in this manner.
Thank you and regards,

Dear Bank,
You cannot refuse to pay the EPF and ESI by rejecting other checks. To my knowledge, you need to meet with the bank manager to discuss the payment of EPF and ESI. They will guide you and clarify any doubts you may have.
