Dear HRs,

As per government policy, once again washing allowance has been increased by 25%, which comes to Rs. 75 per month. I want to know the following:

i. What is the maximum limit for the Washing allowance?
ii. Does this apply to the Factory Act & State's Shops & Establishments Act, 1948?
iii. Is it taxable or non-taxable?

Thank you.

This is a notification from 2008 and is not new.

This is applicable only to central government specified categories and not for any industrial establishments.

There is no law in India specifying a minimum washing allowance.
