I have received my offer letter from an MNC with a higher salary package, and my date of joining is 13th May. However, the HR personnel are now informing me that there was a mistake in offering me the higher salary package, and they need to revise it to a lower level.
Given that my expectations have been set based on the initial offer, I am reluctant to accept a lower salary package. In this situation, how should I proceed?

Hello Ravi_singh_2k,
For a moment, forget about what has been offered. Please clarify or confirm what was discussed in your interview regarding the salary. If you can provide specifics, it would enable the members to give more accurate and realistic suggestions.

Hi Sir,
There was no discussion on salary. Actually, there were approximately 15 new joiners who were offered the offer letter on that day at the same time (i.e., collectively in a group). I was also given the appointment letter in the same fashion. The HR person simply asked me whether I am comfortable if my date of joining will be 14th March and my pre-onboarding will be on 13th March. I told them that I am quite comfortable with it. Apart from this, there was no other discussion. The related HR person simply completed the paperwork (signed herself at the specified places, took my signature as well, and filled in other relevant details) on the appointment letter. Then she handed over the processed appointment letter, which included the salary offer page as well. This way, there was actually no discussion regarding the salary.
Thanks and Regards,
Ravi
