Hello sir,

I am Rupinder from Chandigarh, and here I am working as an HR executive. I have received another job offer from a different company for an HR generalist position, but I lack knowledge about HR generalist duties such as payroll, appraisals, etc. I am familiar with recruitment and selection processes only. Should I go for this interview or not?

Dear Mr. Rupinder,

First of all, my suggestion is to attend the interview. If you don't have the knowledge about generalist, it's better to attend the interview. At least you will have the exposure, and if it clicks, okay. If not, you can continue the present job.

Hi Rupinder,

This is completely your call. With a new job comes new responsibilities. Discuss with the consultant and understand the roles and responsibilities better and think through. If you are confident enough that you'll be able to take up the challenge and will be able to sail through the interview and further would be able to do justice to the job, then go for it.

Think wisely. Good luck!

Hi Rupinder,

You should seize this opportunity with both hands. Whenever you are going for an interview, gather all the information from the Cite HR itself about the profile, and then go for the interview. It will surely boost your confidence, and then you will succeed in the interview. Also, take a brief look at the company profile because HR generalist job roles differ from company to company.

Wishing you great success.

Thank you, sir, for the advice. Unfortunately, I missed the opportunity. However, in my current role, I am exposed to similar tasks which are helping me learn more. In the future, if I come across a similar job profile, I will definitely attend the interview. Your guidance on cite hr has been invaluable to me, and I truly appreciate it. Thank you once again.

Dear Rupinder,

Great. You have taken the first step to get out of your comfort zone. First of all, go with a positive frame of mind. So what if you have no experience in certain facets of the HR field? You can always learn. It is not difficult to handle once you get over your initial hesitation. That's the way to go.

Good luck.

Dear Rupinder,

There is nothing that one cannot handle, so go for the interview with a positive attitude. Just remember one thing, the person who builds his own road never faces a roadblock. Just try to come out of your comfort zone and grab the opportunity.

Wish you the very best of luck for the same.
