Dear All,
I worked as a contract employee for a private limited company in Navi Mumbai for 6 months. After the expiry of the contract, they asked me to continue working and assured me of the contract renewal. I worked for around 1 month without a contract, and later they told me to discontinue.
I have not even received my salary for the last month after the contract expired. How can I claim that salary for one month?
Please advise.

Hi,
It is really a sad thing. One thing I want to know is whether you have spoken to your reporting supervisor/boss or not. Second, what exactly are they saying? Have they denied giving you the salary for this month, and is there any specific reason they have told you for discontinuing your services?
You first need to speak to your boss and then try to get the actual reason. Also, if you have asked for resignation or anything, please do not do this. Do not sign any paper or mail your resignation if they ask you to until you get a solution to your problem. Be kind and calm, which is really important for you at this point.

They are not denying but also not paying. My contract expired in the first week of July 2011, and I worked for the entire month of July 2011. I am not working there now. Five months have passed, and there has been no movement on the front to pay my salary other than assurances.

Akash, I still didn't get the answers to my questions. Have you spoken to your boss in this regard or not? Why are they not releasing your salary? Have you received any answers from them? What did they say? Have you resigned or just stopped going there? Please answer me.
Well, as they have never said that they will not pay you your dues, I don't think there is anything wrong. There may be some internal issues, and you are not getting your dues because of it. You must be in touch with them and wait for a few more days. You can also visit them for your EPF claim because you are eligible for this too.

Yes, I have talked to my boss. He is saying that we are doing it, but even after 6 months, I am waiting for my due salary. I had to stop working there because I was told to discontinue. I think there was no question of resignation as the job was a contract assignment. I am continuously in touch with them. As a contract employee, I was not eligible for EPF, and it was never deducted. It was a professional income in my hand.
It was a contract job of 6 months for a project work which expired in July 1st week 2011. In the 7th month (the balance of July 2011), I continued working on the assurance of contract renewal. At the end of the 7th month, I was told not to continue with the job and assured by my boss of my salary for the 7th month.

Hmm, yes, you were working on a contact project, but now you need to wait for some more time. Stay in touch with them, speak to your boss, and communicate by email, which will be beneficial for your future reference. They have never denied clearing your dues, but it may be taking time for some reason. Therefore, you need to wait a few more days, dear. Also, send an email to your boss with a CC to your HR personnel for their further reference and understanding.
Best of luck.
