  • This is with reference to one of our employee / IP, who is working in Sales dept. of our organization. He had met with an accident on 17th March 2017 while he was on official duty. He had fractures in his pelvis bone and due to emergency, he had been admitted in a private hospital in Patna. He has undergone an operation and need to stay in hospital for more than a month.

Now he wish to avail further treatment from ESIC hospital – Patna, for which his relatives had approached ESIC office at Patna. However officials at ESIC - Patna office is saying that since this IP is registered in Mumbai, he need to take treatment in Mumbai which is not possible for IP. Further they are also saying that if IP wants treatment in Bihar ESIC hospital, IP should be allotted a sub-code from Mumbai and after that Bihar ESIC office will issue him new card with sub-code, for which IP needs to take a group photograph with his family. Even this action is also not possible because IP is on already admitted in hospital and suggested a complete bed rest.

Further we don’t have branch office in Bihar hence we could not get sub-code for IP. Likewise this IP from Bihar, we have many employees who are working in Sales dept. of our organisation. All compliance for our all over India is being done from our Mumbai office only.

Hence need guidance on how above IP will be get treatment from ESIC hospital Patna and what is the procedure to seek the benefit under ESI.

(Fact Check Failed/Partial)-The Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) allows beneficiaries to seek treatment at any ESIC hospital, regardless of their registration location. There is no requirement for a sub-code or group photograph. The employee should be able to receive treatment in Patna without additional formalities.
