Hey, I want to know about the role of the state in Indian industrial relations. I had searched it on Google too but was unable to find a proper meaning. So, if anyone knows about it, please inform me. If anyone has study material on it, you can mail me at: pawankmr.hr@gmail.com.

Dear Member,

Please review your State Rules provision under the Industrial Disputes Act. The role and responsibility of the State Government differ in every state where the act is in force. Generally, the State Government intervenes in matters such as discharge, dismissal, retrenchment, strike, lay-off, closure, and termination referred by the Grievance hearing authority at each level.

You can also look at the State's role in HR in the Trade Union Act, Contract Labor Abolition Act, and Child Labor Prevention & R Act, 1986. The law defines the role, but in practice, the actual role it plays, who it favors, and what compels it to do so are real questions to consider. What was the spirit of the law, and what is the current situation on the ground?

Mr. Murugavel's suggestion is good. When the industrial disputes disturb the public, intervention by the state government may be necessary based on the issue. Otherwise, the state government's labor department is the only entity involved in this matter.
