Hi All,
I have joined a company recently around 20 days back. Now I am not satisfied with the work given to me and I am having another offer with me. Can I abscond in the current company and join in another company. I had thought of resigning the company, but I need to serve for 60 days as per company policy. My another offer will expire if I server notice period.
As per my current company policy, they will terminate if an employee absconding the duty. And as per the company policy, it will take for 15 days to abscond. My question is...will there be a problem in future to me...if I abscond in the current comapny.

Hi Santhanam,
Your idea of absconding, per se, is unethical. An employer who has given you the job from which you earned your bread and butter, shall be respected and give them a chance to find a replacement in place of you or smooth transition for which the N.Period clause is formulated.

You wish to abscond from a job in which you spent 20 days, then you will join another company and dislike job and leave in 30 days, then you join 3rd company and leave that company in 60 days, wow ! nice attitude !! and you find absconding as such a convenient option. I think that is why recruitment industry in India is flourishing ! HR recruiters shall thank you for your efforts.

Sarcasm aside, think about your own future, what examples are you setting for your own career path. Before evaluating another company's offer which must be tempting you to leave this job, first do a self check what exactly you want to do in Life and Career. Else this high paycheck chase will never end.

You disliked the job / company in mere 20 days of your joining. This speaks of your stability in patience and attitude, unless you are not provided what is offered then its justified to leave the job, but if that was the case you would have mentioned so in your post.

However if I was the employer and employee wanted to leave within a month I would gladly let that person offf rather than bear him for 2 more months without will or enthusiasm.

:unsure:am sure this has got nothing to do with the work which has assignd u currently, be frank & hw can be, you are damn sure that the new offer which you have got will comply or satisfy your wants.
This won't create any problem at all if you'll abscond from the company where you are working, but don't get used to it!!!!!!

The basic issue is when you were recruited, did your company provide copy of job description? Few companies, when they upload the job on portals like naukri.com, monster.com etc, they upload job description also. Looking at the position and the type of work candidates apply for job and this is what you have done too.

Now the question has your employer given you the work as per the job description? When you were selected what questions were asked in the interview and has the work been given related to the competencies that you possess?

If the answer to both the questions is "yes" then you have no moral right to quit the job. I would say the company has done it's job fairly.

However, if the answer to these question is no then what have you done to do the job according to your position or competencies? Have you spoken to your HR and any other authority? What is their take on this? I don't think that if you are technical person and your company has allotted your work in some accounts or security department or vice versa.

It appears that your dilemma is because of higher remuneration that the second job may provide you. The discontentment of the current job is sequel to the green grass that you have started perceiving at some another location.

I would not say you should quit or should not quit but then think that you are owner of the company and some chap just absconds after 15 days of recruitment! What feeling will you have then? How will you able to run your business with the breach of faith off and on?

I second to Mr. Dinesh.
1) Kindly do let us know if you had productive discussions with your HR in regard ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES assigned to you
2) Are there any changes in ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES or JOB DESCRIPTION which you had agreed to deliver during your INTERVIEW PROCESS?
Its unethical to conclude within 20 days of your employment. Your may be fascinated by the NEW OFFER as it may sound lucrative but, do you have any idea what kind of assignment you are expected to work on?
Kindly try to "THINK OUT OF THE BOX" rather just concluding blindly. There are ways and means to set right things at workplace.

No better advice be given by anybody than given above.
I doubt Mr. Santhanam will first of all get back on this issue.
He must have posted the question, thinking no one will reply or he must be expecting only what he wants - Yes you abscond - like that.
True & honest person who wants to come up in life in a proper manner would not have thought as above or sought answers from Forum like this.
Wonderful advice to those who are in similar mind, who would happen see these postings.

The thing is I am a technical guy and I have been placed in an operations team...They have taken my interview in the stream where I have worked!!!

Dear Santhanam,

You still have an opportunity to discuss with your HR and resolve issues rather allowing devilish thoughts to conquer your mind. I do agree that, JOB SATISFACTION is the most important factor that is closely associated with EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE/PRODUCTIVITY LEVELS. This is the only factor that makes employees to continue with their EMPLOYER.

Your organisation's HR must addressed your issues and it is your responsibility to place your issues constructively. Kindly COMMUNICATE rather ARGUING with your HR and avoid getting "OUT OF CONTROL OR LOOSING CONTROL" under all circumstances. You have to make them understand about the difference "ROLE YOU HAD AGREED TO DELIVER" and "RESPONSIBILITIES ASSIGNED" which is proportionately ASSOCIATED with your CAREER/FUTURE.

Incase, if they don't agree to your terms, you can opt for RESIGNATION rather serving SERVICE PERIOD, as the EMPLOYER cannot enforce any kind of LAW when he failed to "STICK TO HIS COMMITMENTS".

Think wisely before you take any decision and all your decisions should support LONG TERM BENEFITS supporting your CAREER/FUTURE.

It is nice to note Mr. Santhanam has come back. Good intention.

Now he should follow Mr. Shaik Abdul Khadir suggestion. Discuss with HR clearly conveying this is not the job which I am supposed to do (as I am promised something else related to my core subject).

Still HR do not agree, in the resignation letter itself Mr. Santhanam can mention that he opts resign because of not allocating the field of job for which he has been assured during interview and during induction. Serve notice period and then leave the Organization.

To be on safer side, one copy of Resignation letter may be sent by Regd Post or Speed Post or even Courier; other than handing over the Resignation letter in person.

Once the required (hope so .. 30 days ..) notice period is served, if the Management is not re-allocate the job related to your core field, it is for Santhnam to demand the relieving letter.

Best wishes to Santhanam to take wise decision. Please do not take decision emotionally. Hasty decision might lead to problems ..
