I don't say this as a definition but as per my understanding, Psychology is the study of "How people react to situations and to understand others' behavior and foresee them."

Friends,
The term psychology originates from two Greek words: "psyche", meaning soul or mind; and "logos", meaning study or knowledge. Therefore, by its original definition, psychology was initially described as 'the study of the soul or mind'. In the absence of clear and definite knowledge, it was unscientific to define psychology as the science of the soul.
According to the modern concept, psychology is the science of behavior and experience. Psychology is often referred to as the biosocial science, as man is a biological and social organism. Social interaction is one of man's most obvious traits because it is fundamental to human existence. Behavior alone can be observed and studied. Psychology studies the behavior of the individual throughout the span of his life. It studies all aspects of cognitive activities like perception, intelligence, memory, and forgetting, emotional activities.
Now there are many areas of psychology - child psychology, adult psychology, clinical psychology, social psychology, animal psychology, applied psychology, environmental psychology, abnormal psychology, educational psychology, customer psychology, and so on.
