Hi,
I want advice from a person who has some knowledge regarding NGOs. I want to pursue my career in NGO management. After thorough self-introspection, I concluded that my purpose in life is to serve my nation. Being an MBA graduate and considering the kind of personality I have, I decided to choose a career in this field. I have lots of queries regarding this. Can anyone guide me in this?
Currently, I am pursuing an MBA in HR & IT. What kind of job can I get? How should I go about it? How do I start? What is the career scope in this field?

You really want to serve your nation? Get to the grassroots, my friend.
Your MBA and IT degrees are irrelevant. Only your intense desire to work for your people without the caveat of monetary gain is relevant. NGOs are politically motivated and corrupt and will serve no purpose towards your noble goals, unless your primary goal is a job with no corporate pressure and financial goals.
My mother has worked with an NGO in Calcutta for 15 years where she pays her own bills to travel back and forth to work 50 miles each day. She selflessly devotes 14 hrs a day to her work including commute time. She does not earn a penny from this endeavor and derives happiness from the smiles on the faces of people whose lives she has changed.
I am not sure what your goal is. Do you want to make easy money or serve your nation? Figure it out.

Hi Santanu,
You want to say that there is no scope for a career in NGOs. But what about courses like PGDM in NGO management that are being offered?
The things you mentioned are absolutely correct. Therefore, at this early stage of my career, I should not be thinking about working for an NGO. Maybe I should consider it after earning a lot of money.
