Dera all, This is Sanika. One of our employees have done great job. He completed the project before time & have worked beyond his capacity. I want to appreciate him.But the matter is there is no any existing system in our company. So I want to start it from the beginning. So please suggest me some the techniques which will work as motivation & not become harmful to other employee's motivation.

Why should other employees feel bad if the person is a performer and is given a reward.
I understand that he/she must be junior to others in that team.
Infact what you can do is to take the feedback form others in the team and share his success so that evry other person is aware of his performance. This gives no chance to a biased approach and others will accept the fact.
If it is monetary reward, then you can explain the critirea on which that particular employee is rated and declare the reward in a meeting so that others will get motivated.
If it is non-monetary reward, you can give a letter of appreciation or an award letter or a promotion letter(if it is a annual appraisal)for the performance in a meeting where others of that particular team are also called for.
infact you can also explain how the team and company will grow if everyone strives to perform and excel..

That’s a good initiative which you are trying to start of with.
I do not think it should be a harmful one unless it is communicated properly across the orgn.
You can give him/her a monetary gift, dinner coupon with family, coupon to an entertainment place and etc.
As this is a new initiative you can start with the above ideas right away, meanwhile you can also set some guidelines set to get this award.

Hey hansa, I liked this name -" I appreciate" and "We appreciate" for the awards. If you have any more such kind of recognitions happening in your company why not share in this forum.

HiSanika,
Thr is a software wchich can help you to overcome this problem.
That software helps in measuring the performance of your employees.
You can rate the employees and they 2 can rate themselves and accordingly appraisal system or reward system can be enhanced. This is a transparent system of measuring the performnce and apraising them. You can use it free of cost. It is really helpful. For further details you can mail me.

Tough question. You might want to make a note in his file and include that in his PA review... Alternatively, you might want to ensure that it is in his experience letter once he leaves the company.
I would be apprehensive about such reward systems because they can quickly become politically motivated and less objective due to variances in the rating system. Further, you might want to read an article of mine on this topic. Send me ur email add and I will forward it to you.
