dear All,
i work for a manufacturing company and recently there is a policy of getting medical health check up for new employees joining the company.
there are discussion on whether the employee should get their own independent report and submitting to the company or company should nominate a medical center where employees can go and get health check up done.
please suggest which is a good method we should go ahead with.

Hello amitaggarwal,
Imran is right.
But it all depends on who you are asking reg the 'good' method. If you ask the new employee, he/she will say getting the medical report himself/herself is good, since there is every scope to produce a cooked-up Report :-)
Since you represent the Company, you need to take care of the company's interests. So having a Medical Panel on the Company rolls is better--since that way you would have a complete control on the type of tests to be conducted & the overall report. The type of Medical Tests to be conducted again depends on your manufacturing activity--for eg., chemical industries may need to have more respiratory-related tests. Also if your have any Employee Medical Insurance paid by the company, these test results will become more important.

Hi,
It also depends on the size of the company because for major companies normally you may not be in a position to finalize the candidate on the same day of the interview hence you have to call the candidate once again for medical examination if you restrict to one or two diagnosys centres.
Normally major companies will identify / tie-up with big diagnostic centres or hospital who are having their branches all over India. Once the candidate is selected the HR people will send the Preemployment medical examination sheet to the candidate through courier or else e mail asking them to get the exmaination done at the diagnostic center / hospital where they have tie-ups, the bill will be paid directly by the company or will re-imburse the amount at the time of joining.
It is better for the company to ask the candidate to complete the formalities in the identified / listed or prominent places rather than leaving it to the candidates.
