Dear Dolly!
Greetings for the day!
Excellent question. We'll discuss this in stages.
Goal Seek: This is an extension of What- if analysis that we use in ancient times. If you know the result that you want from a formula, but are not sure what input value the formula needs to get that result, use the Goal Seek feature. For example, suppose that you need to borrow some money. You know how much money you want, how long you want to take to pay off the loan, and how much you can afford to pay each month. You can use Goal Seek to determine what interest rate you will need to secure in order to meet your loan goal.
I'll explain you this with another example. See we all know about cricket. Let us say run rate is 6 and target is 300runs. In how many overs it will attain the target? 50 overs. Right? so this is for the goal seek is. To know when can I attain a target with the provided inputs.
Pivot Table: It is a tool to sort out the information that we have based on our requirements.
Let us say i say that from my branch of bangalore 4 salesman has sold some pen pencil and a soap, now I want the information based on salesman means, I'll make a pivot table and make salesman as my basis and sort out the information.
Vlook up: This is the tool to get any information that is not there in one excel sheet. You can use the VLOOKUP function to search the first column of a range (range: Two or more cells on a sheet. The cells in a range can be adjacent or nonadjacent.) of cells, and then return a value from any cell on the same row of the range.
Hope you can understand this....
