Dear Pradeep,

The overtime policy is determined by the applicability of the Act. Therefore, first, examine which of the State or Central Acts, e.g., Factories Act, 1948, Minimum Wages Act, 1948, State Shops & Establishment Act, etc., is applicable in your case. Then, review the overtime provisions in that Act and the Rules to address your query.

As per your kind guidance, I tried to get information from the Factories Act 1948 but did not clarify what I needed. Our company is located in Gurgaon, Haryana. It is a Furniture & Fixtures Company, involved in metal/wood & glasswork.

Sir, please clarify the OT timings, such as how much overtime is allowed after 8 hours of working as per the Factories Act 1948. Also, could you please advise on the number of hours allowed for OT within a week and a quarter after an 8-hour workday?
