An existing standing order can be amended after six months of its certification. For that, the same formalities like the signature of representatives of the trade unions, submission before the Labour Commissioner/Dy Labour Commissioner, and getting the amendments certified are required.

Hi, can anyone tell me about companion acts? For example, if an employee's death occurs, can their son or daughter join the service? Are there any rules and regulations that need to be followed?

There is no companion act, but if you mean compassionate appointment, that is giving a job to the son/daughter of an employee who died while in service, then I would say that there is no Act in support or which says that compassionate appointment should be made in private establishments. There are schemes available in government service and public sector undertakings. However, for the private sector, it is purely based on the company's policy in this regard, and it is well appreciated if any establishment does so. There are, of course, some establishments who have adopted a scheme of compassionate appointments. Normally, the same will be mentioned in the company's standing order itself.

Compassionate appointment: Can you please brief me about this? I am working for a public sector bank. Are there any rules or procedures? Can we appoint a married daughter in place of an employee who died while in service? Please let me know.

Rules for compassionate appointment differ from company to company. However, under any rule, a married daughter may not be entitled to get the job in the case of the death of her father. The widow will be eligible to get a job of her deceased husband.
