I am working as a Recruitment Executive in a Consultancy. Prior to this role, I have 2.3 years of experience in Recruitment. I completed my graduation in 2007. Now, if I aspire to advance my position to Manager or Assistant Manager in HR, what is the significance of having an MBA? Can I attain these positions without pursuing an MBA?

By this time, you would have been promoted to at least one senior post. I wonder why they haven't promoted you yet. Perhaps you initially joined with a different designation, and now you might be a recruitment executive. An MBA holds its own value. For example, I completed my graduation, which took me around 5 to 6 years to become a manager. However, with an MBA, you could achieve this in about 3 years, depending on your performance and the organization's policies. There are various factors at play here. This could be the fast track you will experience after completing your MBA; this is just an example. Let's wait and see what the HR professionals have to say. Although I am not from the industry, as a Management Graduate, I hope I have been able to provide you with some clarity, or perhaps it's confusing.

MBA increases the scope of working with value addition. Of course, it depends on the perception of the student. Don't take the syllabus lightly. Learn from the heart. I would like to suggest that you don't mix it with your present job or promotion. The aim should be value addition with personality development. As pointed out by 'ajayaatreyasa,' it is true that 'promotion' depends on various factors such as the organization's policy, your performance, the current trend in the market, availability of opportunities, etc., other than educational qualifications. After that, with a master's degree plus your previous experience, you can grab highly skilled jobs in HR anywhere.
