Hi friends, I was doing MBA from ICFAI but had to discontinue due to financial problems. Now, I am planning to pursue the same degree again, but this time from either Symbiosis or Manipal University. I am currently in a dilemma as Manipal provides a Degree while Symbiosis offers a Diploma. Can anyone suggest which option would be better for me, considering I have a 2-year HR experience certificate when I start looking for a job?

Does anyone know which of these universities has a better reputation in the job sector?

Dear Member,

Present-day scenario: IGNOU is the best. However, although Symbiosis offers a diploma, it carries weightage. Furthermore, they also offer placements. Ultimately, it is up to your decision.

Hello,

I am pursuing an MHRM degree in Pune and have little exposure to management institutes' weightage in terms of the quality of the course curriculum and placements. As far as Symbiosis goes, it is a world-renowned university, and its courses are unique. Go for it.

Hello :D

I hope you will get the answer you are looking for. What I think is that you should join SYMBIOSIS due to the following reasons:
1. Good Market Reputation
2. Excellent Latest Courses and Study Materials
3. Excellent Communication with the Institute
4. No doubt about Good Placement opportunities.

A great advantage for you is that you have 2 years of experience. Having a degree or diploma in HRM will work wonders with a BRAND NAME in your career. So, if you are comfortable with the fees of Symbiosis, please go for it.

Thank you and best of luck.

Hi,

I recommend pursuing your MBA at ICFAI because I have heard that they guarantee a salary of Rs. 20,000 or more upon completion of the program. Additionally, the institution has a strong brand reputation. Don't waste any time, go ahead with this option.

Thank you.

Hi Santhosh,

I would like to tell you that ICFAI, even though it offers a salary of 20,000, is only applicable to students who complete the course within a total of 4 years. This is not always the case as the pass percentage in ICFAI for the 2nd and 3rd semesters is only 15% and 20% respectively. Additionally, the course fee for ICFAI, including exam fees, would exceed 1 lakh. Therefore, I don't believe it is worth it.

Manipal would be a better option according to me. To be very honest with you, for a distance learning institute, it doesn't make much difference. Since Manipal is giving you a degree, I advise you to go for that only. If you want to explore more options, then IGNOU is a very good choice for you.

Take care. Bye.

As far as weugtage goes, SYmbi will be better. PG Diploma has equal value of MBA when it comes to Symbi. If u stay at Pune why don’t u try for executive MBA which is in the evenings everyday.

Hi Friend,

I would suggest Symbi to pursue, as it is one of the best known for HR (SCHMRD) and certainly has a world perspective. I feel this gives an edge over the others mentioned. Moreover, the placement facility is something one can't do without. So, do your complete homework and then make the decision as it is a very important aspect.

All the very best.

Hi,

As you have doubts about distance education, as far as I know in Andhra Pradesh, we have Osmania University, Andhra University, Kakatiya University, and more. If you are from Andhra Pradesh, you can consider these universities. If you want to know about other universities outside Andhra Pradesh, I only know about Pune University, which provides Symbiosis facilities. I am unaware of universities in other locations in India.

Thank you.

Hi,

First of all, don't confuse between MBA and PG Diploma. Both are the same. As far as MBA is concerned, any 2-year full-time program in management is an MBA program. All top management institutes in India give either PGDM or PGDBM or PGDBA degrees to their full-time students. Even IIM's provide a Post Graduate Diploma in Management. Only Pune, ICFAI, Symbiosis, Amity give MBA degrees. The rest all give PG Diploma.

The same is the case with distance learning. So, try in Symbiosis or Welingkar or ICFAI only because these are brand names. As far as the pay package is concerned, develop your knowledge in your field. For distance learning, knowledge is more important than the brand name.

Regarding ICFAI, I have completed my full-time MBA from ICFAI Business School, and I don't have any bad experiences.

Hi,

I need some information regarding the program: Executive Post Graduate Program (E-PGP) in Global Management offered by Alliance B-school. I am looking for the following details:

1. How is the program rated in the industry?
2. Is it true that preference is given for industry-sponsored candidates?
3. Also, on the admission front, is it true that more experience carries more weightage?
4. What if a student is willing to join but is not sponsored by the employer? What are the chances in that case?

I remember Jaishu having posted info regarding this program, but that was quite brief. If Jaishu or anybody can help with the above queries, I will be very thankful to them. Kindly let me know.

Dear all,

After reading everyone's suggestions, I am a bit confused as I have the same problem. Now, if considering these factors, can anyone suggest the best university for distance learning? The factors to consider are:
- Lower cost
- Shorter duration, maximum one year
- Opportunities for good jobs

Thank you.

Dear friends,

I am a new member in this discussion.

I have been conducting thorough research on MBA through correspondence and have discovered the following points:

1. MBA and PGDBA are two different programs that hold the same weightage in the eyes of corporations. However, the weightage varies within the Indian Education System. An MBA is a recognized degree that paves the way for further qualifications such as a Doctorate. Conversely, a PGDBA does not offer the same opportunities. An MBA is a master's degree, while a PGDBA is primarily a professional qualification. The value of an MBA surpasses that of a PGDBA. UGC-recognized institutes offer an MBA, whereas others provide a PGDBA.

2. MBA programs are generally not offered through correspondence for recent graduates, except at Manipal University and ICFAI University, which are the only two institutes offering a Master's degree. Institutions like Symbiosis, NIBM, IMT, Xaviers, Welingkar, etc., offer only a PGD. Open universities like IGNOU, KSOU, etc., require a minimum of 3 years of work experience for an MBA program.

3. When pursuing any course through correspondence, the aim is to enhance one's career prospects and create opportunities for the future. Therefore, an MBA is a more valuable qualification than a PGD.

4. It is advised not to compare other institutes with IIMs, as IIMs are autonomous bodies with significant goodwill and reputation. Just because IIMs offer PGD programs does not imply that any institute offering PGD is of similar caliber.

5. Between ICFAI and Manipal, Manipal may be a preferable choice due to lower fees and a minimum of 160 hours of classes, providing additional knowledge. For individuals with at least 3 years of work experience, IGNOU and KSOU are good options.

6. For those seeking a promotion within the same organization, Symbiosis would be a suitable choice to enhance the resume.

Having recently completed my BCom, I am leaning towards starting my MBA journey at Manipal University. I welcome all suggestions and guidance on this matter. Let's engage in further discussions to make well-informed decisions, as pursuing an MBA is a significant milestone in our lives.

Regards,
Puneet
