Dear Taashi,

The required qualifications for a Labour Welfare Officer are outlined in the respective states' Factory Act rules. For instance, as per the MP Factory Act rules, the following criteria are specified for appointment as a welfare officer:

a. Possession of a degree from a University recognized by the State government in this regard.
b. Attainment of a degree or diploma in Social Science from an institution recognized by the state government.
c. Adequate knowledge of Hindi and the language spoken by the majority of workers in the relevant factory.

For further assistance, you can contact your local labor office.

Best regards,
Bhupesh

Dear Prashant,

First of all, please note that an MBA is not a prescribed qualification for a Welfare Officer. The required qualification for a Labour Welfare Officer is outlined in the respective states' Factory Act rules. A person shall not be eligible for appointment as a welfare officer unless he:

a. Possesses a degree or diploma in labor laws
b. Has obtained a degree or diploma in Social Science from any institution recognized by the state government for this purpose
c. Has adequate knowledge of the local language.

Additionally, I am a certified welfare officer and am seeking a change. If you have any vacancies, please inform me.

Thanks, Nayan Patil Bhupesh

Dear Mr. Jai and Naga,

All the universities and deemed universities recognized by the UGC should be accepted by the government, unless any restrictions are imposed by the appropriate government due to certain reasons. Any law degree, PGDPM&IR, MSW are eligible for the Labour Welfare Officer vacancy. The major concern here is that the person appointed as a Labour Welfare Officer must have adequate knowledge about Labour Welfare/Safety Measures, and some knowledge of the ID Act is essential to handle any situation.
