Hi Anindita, I have joined my new organization just 1 month back. It's a nice place to work, I agree. However, one particular thing I am finding a bit uncomfortable is that here we have fixed timings of 45 minutes for lunch break and no interim tea breaks as such. Me being in HR cannot supposedly jump to a senior level to express my views. But in my previous organization, we did not have machines to check on our time ins and outs at lunch either.

On top of that, Saturday here is a half-day working, but... but... but... 5 hours with no lunch breaks.

Do you think I should do something about it or let it be?

Hi Anindita, you might want to check if your company's break hour/work hour and conditions meet the law requirements. If it doesn't, you should definitely do something to correct it. On the other hand, if it complies with the law requirements/standards, changing it would then become a discretion of the company. Perhaps you'd want to research industry standards/practices, sentiments, or opinions of employees, etc. As HR, you can sell this idea of change by presenting its advantages and disadvantages. Good luck!
