Dear All,
I want to give one of my employee a letter saying that "your salary has been reduced and you are being put into Performance Improvement Plan for next 6 months as your work is not found to be satisfactory and other reasons.And if you improve upon your work we will again give you the salary what we ave decided at the time of your joining.
Please help me with the letter.

Dear Pooja,
Instead of reducing the salary, you may put him on PIP and based on outcome in a month or two, you may choose to continue or relieve. This may set right precedence in the organization.
Per me, if you reduce the salary it might demotivate others in the organization, as you know such stuff spreads faster in the organization.
As we know all organization's objective to have right & performing workforce, you should only count on the performance. If there is a gap in hiring, you may move him to a different assignment s/he is passioned on or role and pay accordingly with mutual consent.
