Dear Friends and Seniors,

I want to know if double post-graduation (like MBA with MSW/MS/PG in HR) is an advantage or a disadvantage. Will it affect our HR career? Kindly share your suggestions from employer and HR views.

Regards,
Divya

Hi Divya,

There is no advantage or disadvantage to getting a degree or education. You can choose a degree that you like, but it should be in the same field so that employers will be more comfortable judging your skill set. If possible, consider pursuing a Postgraduate Diploma in Training, Operations, or Law.

Thank you for your immediate response. I have completed an MBA in HR and am currently working as an HR professional in a manufacturing company. I am interested in pursuing an additional course or degree in HR. Could you please suggest some HR courses and universities that offer distance education programs?

Ms. Divya,

MSW and MBA are both master's degrees specializing in HR. Therefore, there is no need to obtain both degrees. One who has completed an MSW or MBA can pursue a one-year diploma course in HR to gain a more comprehensive understanding. For example, in MSW, we focus more on labor laws, statutory compliance, and industrial relations, whereas in an MBA, the emphasis is on recruitment, training and development, and performance appraisal.
