I did see a list of public holidays mentioned for Tamil Nadu State government. We are a private limited software company. We come under shops and establishments act. Is there any particular list for this? Is there any minimum number of holidays that needs to be declared?

Yes there are four holidays that needs to be decelare every year detail of holidays are given below:-
26th January
1st May Labour day (in case manufacturing unit)
15th August
2nd October

Persons employed in shops and commercial establishments and establishments in Tamilnadu are entitled to, in addition to the earned leave, sick leave and casual leave at the rate specified in the Tamilnadu Shops and Establishments Act, are also entitled to holidays on 26th January,First May, 15th August and 2nd October and five other holidays for festivals to be prescribed by the Inspector under the Tamilnadu Shops and Establishments Act. The Inspector will prescribe the festival holidays in consultation with the employer and employees.
