Dear All
I work as a HR Manager, for a Denmark based global organisation in Chennai. We are in the process of implementing an initiative on workplace excitement.
Please let me have your thoughts / ideas / guidelines if you have implemented any such initiatives in your organisations

Hi Ganesh,
I handle HR for a IT Company & we launched an Employee Club last October and have had lots of fun since then. Firstly, we got a Club core Committee (6 members) in place (we selected the first Committee) and held periodic short meetings to plan future activities. Till date, we've had theme days, 2 parties, a picnic, have launched a newsletter where employee contributions (articles) have been included, and currently have a Sports Meet (TT/ Carrom/ Chess/ Sudoku) in progress. I act as the Facilitator for the Club and its meetings and ensure that things happen as planned and also take care of budget/sanctions. Besides that the Committee is involved right from planning to execution. We meet on a need basis - whenever a general consensus to any issue is required.
The Club is a platform for employees to assume leadership roles and it also fosters a sense of community at the workplace. We plan to appoint a new Committee every 6 months so as to allow more employees to benefit from this initiative.
You could try something on similar lines at your workplace, all the very best!

Hi Mallika,
We have now nominated a new committee of 6 members.
The Committee is responsible for drawing out the event schedules, planning as well as implementation. Committee may also decide to involve other employees for a particular event so that more participation takes place.
We select the committee in a manner that there is 1 representative from each project team in the organisation (we are a small organisation of 40 employees) and also nominate people who come across as shy or reserved. This is to enable such individuals to assume leadership roles and therefore make an attempt to overcome their limitations. This has worked very well for us so far.
Let me know if you need more information.
