Hi ,
My name is Shweta. I am working with a reputed financial company. My concern is my work is often ignored or overlooked by my seniors.
I see appreciation emails from them for my colleagues who just close a call of 50000, where as i dint get a single word of appreciation from my Regional or zonal manager when i closed a call worth 1.5lac.
I was sent an sms that to from my L2 reporting manager but despite of me going and telling them again and again about the business done by me there's no official communication sent for it (Nothing in form of email as it was and is sent for my collegues). I never had any conflict or issues with any of my seniors or collegues in system.
My immediate reporting boss tried to pass it on to next level, still neither he nor i got any response. At times I get demotivated as to why am i doing all this.
If i talk in figs in last 9months my team (17 members) have done a business of 1CR out of which i alone had contributed to more then 10LAcs.
I want to know from seniors how to take this up in a proper way.

Hi Shweta
I can understand how frustrating it would be for you to when your performance is not appreciated or recognized. However, it is important for you to realize that the learning will always stand you in good stead.
It would be a good idea for you to just step back and rationally analyise why you think you have been ignored. Ask yourself if you come across as very aggressive in your work style, pushy with your colleagues, so career driven that you unknowingly trample upon toes of colleagues,/ seniors etc. You might rationalize your behavior but the reality is how others perceive you.
The second thing you must do is learn not to compare with others. If you have achieved your targets then keep a record of it. I am sure in your annual appraisal you will get a chance to highlight your contribution and it would be difficult to for your seniors to dismiss that easily. You will definitely get your due then.
However end of day, if you are very frustrated it is in your interest to seek a change. The markets are opening up and there are ample opportunists. Just bear in mind that you should not change too many jobs too soon, because you are not getting the recognition you believe you deserve. If that be the case…there is a very high probability that you have to change. Do also take the counsel of some elders preferably your professors at college.
I am sure you have a very bright and successful career ahead of you.

I am about to complete 1year in system, and i beleive that before actually looking out for a change i must consider two things first -
1.My own priorities which are well taken care off here apart from Job recognition
2.Is is safe for my professional growth.
In my case its not safe to switch job in just 1years time period, plus I dont want to run away from things like this, i want to face it and fight with it. Atleast I can try rather then job hopping which is least i can expect from my self.
Hopping is just an option but not a solution, what in case if i come across the same difficulty in my organisation also, is there a guarantee that i will not face it again???
I want to resolve things not to skip, it. And I beleive to change system we have to be a part of the system.
Hope i made myself clear.

I would appreciate even more if you analyze yourselves more, may be from a third angle. Just wisely try to understand what others perceive about you as an employee. May be get a feedback from your colleagues. But be careful in communication.
As far as change is concerned, always remember grass always looks more greener at other end. Be very selective.
I might not be hundred percent correct as shoe pinches only the one who wears it.

[Unless you are EXPECTING the Organization to change, the way you would like it to be].
The CHOICE is yours; one always has a Choice.
If you want to complete a year or so, you can.
But remember, you can't always Have the Cake and Eat It too !!!

Looking from management prespective
1. Person who is supposed to appreciate would had thought that communication has been sent already, even if reminded, if sternly believes that such communication is sent, you will not receive the communication again - there are many reasons behind it, all are driven by "suspect" instinct.
2. Management would had choosen not to appreciate when management feels that such appreciation could become base for demand of salary increase, and meeting such demand or not meeting such demand both would become an issue for them - This depends on your outspoken nature you had exhibited during your tenure
3. Management would had lost respect for the superior through whom this been bought to the notice of management. Under such circumstances, keeping close contact with the superior would be an issue for you in long run (provided the company you are serving is esteemed organization) [Pls. bear in mind that India is still a developing nation and every company is a developing company, do not expect transparency to the very core Six Sigma standards]
4. Management would had felt that either there is some undue advantange extended by your team in your success or would had felt that there is wrong communication [credit to be given to others, management would had thought is being passed on to you]
5. Management will never appreciate any closure if such closure brings in more troubles than money. Gravity of troubles decide language that defines the strength of appreciation.
If you have enough access to information and people, check all the above 5 points and you will get an answer.
As an HR professional I will never buy the fact that you are moving from this current organization to other organization, even if it is my organization and say at the time of interview that you were being deprived of credits for your contribution. At last, it is the documents that speaks, and if you have no document that says you performed well, for others you had not performed well. Better choice, is to stay in the organization and make them feel that you could contribute in long run and gain credits
If you are perpetually deprived of credits that indicates the corporate culture is damaged and working for such organization will never help your resume
So, moving out or staying in depends on your inner strength and your estimate of work you can complete / orders you can close vis-a-vis compensation.
