Dear All,

The Labour Officer is asking to submit the Standing Orders for his approval. We have no unions in our industry. Do the Industrial Standing Orders apply to all companies where there are no unions? If we have an HR policy, will it suffice? Is it mandatory for industrial establishments to get such an HR policy approved by the Labour Department? Are there any case laws on this issue?

We will be thankful for your advice.

For certification of Standing Orders, Trade Union involvement is not mandatory. It can be signed by some representative employees and the employer. In fact, having certified Standing Orders is always good as it provides more clarity on many things, especially those relating to industrial relations. Therefore, get it done.
