Dear VKS,

If you have talent and believe you can secure a job elsewhere, please resign from your current position. Your Managing Director cannot refuse to accept your resignation as there should be no practice of rejecting employees' resignation letters when there is no practice of issuing appointment letters to them. A company that lacks leave policies or fails to adhere to basic labor laws has no right to operate. Private ownership does not grant any exemptions in this regard.

Any organization is granted a license by the government based on an undertaking to serve the general public. Therefore, if your MD holds a license to operate a media company, it must have been issued with the condition to serve the public interest. Hence, every establishment, whether private or public, has a social responsibility. If your MD believes his business is exempt from labor regulations, he should only employ family members and not profit from services to the public. If he sells products, he is expected to comply with the laws of the land.

In summary, your MD is either illiterate, pretending to be, or attempting to outsmart others. Regardless, I recommend you discontinue your association with him. Since there is no formal appointment letter, you have no legal ties to him. Hence, you can easily leave the company without adhering to notice pay requirements. Please consider doing so.
