Dear All, I have got a Project on Leadership but my sir said not to write much theory he wants a case study on leadership.
I have prepared my ppt. on Narayan Murthy with the help of M. Peer Mohamed Sardhar’s PDF which he had posted earlier. Thanks’ you sir for the post.
My doubt of how to present a case study has been solved by M. Peer Mohamed Sardar. But Can anyone help me with the answer to the question in this case study?
I need your help. I have never presented any case study before, we are having 11 min to present. Please help me. Please give feedback on my ppt.

Dear Shilpa,
It is a good PPT but does not appear like a case syudy in the real sense - are you questioning the leadership aspects of Narayan Murthy - otherwise where is the dilemma where management or other students would have to analyse and come up with various solutions or viewpoints. Pl clarify what exactly is reqd. It appears from what you have written that your prof wants your group to make a gr presentation on Leadership. Is that so? Then present your case on the stage with each member of yr grp speaking on one aspect of Narayan Murthy and highlighting his leadership qualities. Total presentation time allowed appears to be 11 min.
Kindly clarify.

Shilpa,

I took the liberty to download your slide deck and clean it up a little bit. I have reorganized the information into short bullet points. I have attached the cleaned up version. Please take a look.

Further, in your original slide deck, there were several references to tables and exhibits etc., that were not found in the deck. If you make such references, make sure you have the information elsewhere in the deck.

Here are a few suggestions to make the presentation effective and keep it under 11 minutes.

Slide show:

1. Avoid paragraphs and talk in bullet points - less than 15 words per point

2. Keep information relevant to the subject of each slide

3. If you want to put multiple subjects in a slide, use headers (see slides)

4. Expand on N. R. Narayana Murthy's ideology, vision, strategy, and leadership style (some of them are already covered)

5. Avoid too many quotes from anyone (including the man himself) in the middle of the presentation

6. Combine all the quotes from Narayana Murthy into one single slide and put that slide at the end of the deck

Timing:

1. Keep at most 10 to 15 slides - avoid any and all unnecessary information (such as pictures of leaders, quotes from various leaders etc. you can move these slides to the end of the deck)

2. Avoid (if possible) having more than 10 bullet points per slide

3. Keep extensive (but relevant) notes and add them to the Notes section of each slide

Hope this helps.

All the best.

Dear Shilpa,
I agree with Som G. There is too much material on some of the slides. You have too many slides for a 11 min presentation. Does the 11 min group presentation include question time too? Could you please copy the question set verbatim? It will help us to give you a better advice. Also, when do you have to do the presentation? If you have already done it, could you state how it was received and how long it took?
Have a nice day.

Shilpa,
A good effort made by you & bettered by Som. However, you can make it more interesting and meaningful by discussing a bit more. In a case study, you can give various analyses, scenario at that time (when Narayan Murthy started), his strategy, competitors in field, how he sniffed the opportunities & converted them into big business, system he introduced, values & ethics, cash flows, various aspects of the business, challenges he faced etc. Then, finally you can can summarise it...
