Hi all,
I have a doubt whether Software companies are bound to ay pf and ESI or not? If so then what are the terms and conditions.
Thogh it is written in the conditions tha t every company having more than 20 employees, using power for its process come under ESI. I am not clear what is using power mean.
Hope some one will help me.

Look any company who has more than 20 employee has to register itself with the pf(as per govt of india rule).After that if some employee whose basic is more than 6500 can become or not become a member of epf..its upto them.

dear ajit
software companies are covered under shop and estblishment act .so both ESI&PF act
will apply to them if number of employees are more than 20 in both cases.
you are just getting confused in case of factory if number of employees are 10 and using power than ESI act become applicable on 10 also but in your case its applicablity
is on 20 employee only.
in ESI if gross salaryof an employee is less than 10 k than it will be applicable to them.in case of PF if basic+DA is less than 6500 at the time of joining than PF act will be
applicable to them.
