Good day. I hope you all are doing well. I would like to inquire about the breakdown of the salary, i.e., how much percentage of the CTC is allocated to the Basic salary, HRA, DA, Conveyance, Medical allowance, any special allowances, etc.

Hi,

Please find the basics of Compensation.

1) Basic is 30-50% of CTC, not more than that.

2) HRA is taken as 40% of Basic (for non-Metros) and 50% for Metros, as it is the HRA exemption limit as per tax.

3) Medical Allowance is set at 15,000 Rs. per annum, i.e., Rs. 1,250 per month, as this is the exemption limit as per Income Tax.

4) Conveyance of 9,600 Rs., i.e., 800 Rs. per month, is kept, as this is the exemption limit as per Income Tax.

5) Special allowance is fully taxable, so it is normally the adjusting component.

6) LTA is one month's Basic, thus you can include that also in the salary sheet.

7) Children's education allowance is exempt up to 100 per child per month and 300 per child per month for hostel expenses (max two children), which can also be included. The exempted part can be utilized while the rest would attract tax.

8) Sodexo Meal coupons can be a part of CTC, which are fully tax-exempt.

Hi,

Salary Breakups:
Basic - 30-50% of Monthly gross salary.
HRA - 50% of Basic.
TA - Maximum 800 (Not more than that).
Flexi pay - 75% of Basic - (TA).
Std earnings - 8.33% of Basic.
Others - difference amount.

Dear All,

Please find the salary breakup considering 10000 as CTC:

- Basic: 4000
- HRA: 2000
- Conveyance: 800
- Special Allowance: 2597
- PF: 480
- ESI: 123
- CTC: 10000

1. Considering 40% of Basic from CTC
2. 50% of HRA if the employee is in a metro and 40% of HRA if the employee is in a non-metro
3. Conveyance up to 800 is exempt from tax
4. PF @ 12% from basic
5. ESI 4.75% from Gross (Basic + HRA + Conveyance + Special Allowance)
6. Other than this, Medical Reimbursement monthly 1250 can be given.

Dear Friends,

Other than the above, some portion of the amount can be attire allowance, books and periodicals, and driver allowance, which are non-taxable amounts. These could be for the relevant employees only.

Compensation Structure:

- Basic = 30% to 50% of CTC
- HRA = 40% of Basic for Non Metros & 50% of Basic for Metros
- Medical = Rs. 1250 per month
- Conveyance = Rs. 800 per month

- Children Education = Rs. 100 per child (Only for 2 children)
- Uniform Allowance = Can include if employer is ready to pay group FBT
- Books & Periodicals = Can include if employer is ready to pay group FBT
- Telephone Reimbursement = Can include if employer is ready to pay group FBT
- Drivers Allowance = Can include if employer is ready to pay group FBT
- Sodexo Meal coupons = Part of CTC (fully tax exempted) Min 1100 – Max 5000 Upper Limit

Deductions:
- PF = 12% from basic
- ESIC = 4.75% from Gross (Applicable only on those employees where Take Home amount is less than 10K)
- PT as applicable in your state by govt.
- Income Tax

Others:
- Gratuity
- Superannuation

Hi Prabhu, I am just forwarding my company's salary breakup. Mostly, the Basic should be 50-55% of the gross salary. For Medical, we have a slot up to Asst. Manager - 10,000/- per year. If the Basic is lower than 10,000, then the Basic is divided by 12 months.

(A) Direct
Basic: 7100
HRA @30% of Basic: 2130
Conveyance @ 15%: 1065
Medical Reimbursement: 592
Contribution to Superannuation Fund @ 8.33% of Basic: 591
Performance Incentive @ 10%: 710
Total Direct: 12,188

(B) Indirect
Contribution to Provident Fund @ 12% of Basic: 852
Leave Travel Allowance @ 4.17% of Basic: 296
Gratuity @ 4.8% of Basic: 341
Total Indirect: 1,489

Total per month: 13,677
Total per annum: 164,124
Net Payable: 10,626
