Dear All,
Pls let me know the best way to interact with employees to know more about their job, responsibilities, expectations (from seniors, HR, Org etc), their plans for future growth etc.
Our organization (BPO) is new, hardly completed 6 months having strength approx. 250 (100 peoples in Corp & others at branches).
There is very worst situation, Employees are coming only to complete their work assigned by superiors. They hardly interact with their superior & colleagues to discuss any issue.
From the first day, i am trying to make everyone comfortable when they interact with me to discuss any issues (official or personal). but there are very few employee who interact with me.
Pls help me, I am trying my best as i want healthy environment in my org where everyone will enjoy their work & give their opinions or feedback openly.

Hi Manoj:
First things first. Assumption is the worst string to go by. You need to find out if the employees are really under any form of external or internal pressure or hinderance to interact. So, ideally, conduct a meeting or a small feedback session. ASK THEM what's bothering them and why they don't interact.
Then, incase you get a sizable amount of feedback, order them into DO-able and NOT DO-able. From there, its your PEOPLE SKILLS that help you to solve the problem.
Realizing that there IS and issue is the first HUGE step. That you have done already so from here it should be a cake walk for you and your organization.
trust me, if you THINK that its hard, it WILL always be hard. If you know where to nip it, you're on the right track.
Cheers and good luck with the interactions.

Dear Manoj,
Speak to the employees from your heart, and look for something where you can really help every them (may be personal). Definitely they will turn back to you and listen to you. The conversation should not tell that you are trying to extract some information, it should be casual and friendly. Again saying should be from heart to hart.
Try out!!!!

Dear Manoj,
I feel you need to arrange a get together party may of your birthday or so, and invite all you collegues to participate and have a very close talk with all of them, crack jokes and make the situation lighter. Then you can address to the group reiterating the importance of the MOVING CLOSELY. I hope that situation will definitely benefit you as all the employees will be in off-line mood.
Please try it once if possible.

Dear Manoj
You can arrange a small party in your office itself with some light snacks.Christmas is nearing ask everybody to decorate their department/work stations and the best decorated will be given a surprise gift(it can be a movie ticket for a couple or some gift voucher or some household item etc.) and also say them we will be having a small get together after office hours or before 1 hour of the leaving time. Also make them play some management games.Get sanctioned some of the HR budget from the management.Do this type of things 2-3 times then u will notice some improvement in the atrmosphere. It will really work.

dear Manoj
if you are an HR professional then I m sure you must be knowing that the most imporatnt skill is man management ie we need to undertand the psyche of each individual at a personal as well as professional level and then try to motivate them to channelise the energy in teh proper direction .
as far as employeees opening to HR , i feel is just a matter of time ....if we show our concern and the enthusism to addresss their greivances and take th initiative to solve their ussual day to day problems they will surely notice and appreciate our efforts and automatically you will see that they are approaching you for all their personal and other work related issues .
BOTTOM LINE IS EARN THEIR RSEPECT AND WIN THEIR TRUST

Dear Manoj ,
I feel that HR of any company is in the challenging & the powerful side. Every body do acept it . See you can apply carrot & stick theory . But the best way would be to interact with them vividly. So that then can realise you importance too. Whenever you interact with them always keep in mind that they are matchless dynamic resource , So they need more care . Adopt positive approach , Talk about them definately they will come and listen you. These are my personal views.

Hey Manoj,
Probably you could have a meeting between top management & the employees (ofcourse with few selected employees).
You could also organize some kind of events & make the employees participate maybe like sports.
You can also celebrate festivals like Diwali etc & allow your employees to bring their spouse & children for the party.
Afterall these exercises are just to break the ice. You can even think of more activities or even outings for your employees.

Dear Manoj,
I can understand you the problem you are facing also, I understand you have done this posting only when you have done everything from your side.
Now as per my advice, please try to be reachable for your employee. Let them feel, that there problem is your problem. Try all the possible ways by which you can help them. Try to spend more time with them and try to understand there needs.
Also, you have written that they even do not interact with each other (Team member and supervisor). For this you need to do some team building activities, try to get them fun at work. This team building exercise will help them to understand each other.

Please do remember that HR is the communication media between employee and employer. So, start acting like that, and things will be OK.

Thanks & Regards
Kumar Gourav
