The thing that surprised me the most is the book without the letter 'e': GADFLY, written by Ernest Wright in 1939 is a 50,000+ word book that doesn't contain a single word with the letter 'e' in it.

The surprising thing is that the author's name starts with "E" and the language in which the book is written starts with "E."
