Can someone please shed some light on what is the minimum & maximum percentage for Basic Salary, and can separate percentages of Basic Salary be used for different categories of employees in the same company?

There is no standard norms or percentage to fix up the basic salary. This can be fixed to the designations based on the minimum wages supposed to be paid to the particular category of workers, which is in force...
You can fix up the standard percentage (40 or 50%) from the CTC or Gross salary and ensure that this basic salary is meeting the aforesaid criteria.
