Can you share the JDs of HR generalist in an organization where there is no functional HR deptt existing? I am the person looking after recruitment and training part for some time to fill up the organizational requirement, but I'm not from HR domain. Now, as we wish to have HR deptt to be functional, we are going to appoint HR executives very soon. It would be a great help to me if the process of establishing such a deptt is also narrated to me by seniors.

Dear Bobby, apart for finalizing the no. of headcounts for HR dept, few of the profiles are that of a recruitmrnt person, a compensation & remunaretion person and a generalist who may also handle training & induction. Depending upon your management's call, JDs can be prepared for abovementioned profiles.

Presently your organization seems to have the personnel department. Setting up the HR department in an organization is a specialist job which an executive level person may not be handle effectively. You need a leader/consultant's help who can start from organization structuring onwards. The whole process is institutionalized over a period of 2-3 years.
I suggest that don't adopt a piecemeal approach by having few people running the show as T&D, PMS, C&B, OD, Payroll and recruitment. These processes need to be first integrated and aligned to an organizational strategy.
