Tamilnadu Government Paid Public holiday to employees on the day of poll – 24-03-2014. But our company planning to Compensatory working day for this leave. is compensatory leave allowed for public holiday Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881. Is any senior person please clarify this issue.

Negotiable instrument act 1881 has nothing to do with Election Process and compensatory leave.
Your company is kind enough to give compensatory off is really commendable. Don't confuse the cause to much and support the efforts of our democratic process and ensure all your staff vote for good of our nation. Good Luck.

Our company too has adjusted the leave. we are given leave on 24th April and kept working on 18th April. Is this justified.

Dear All,
Yes the same is perfectly ok.
Almost all the organizations are doing the same. Even we are working on the last Saturday (which ideally is an off day).
Let us all think from the organization's point of view. The operations should not hamper.
